Week 2 work

This week chapters 1, and 2 in the "Discovering Data" were assigned this week.

Chapter 1 of the book explains how analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data are essential skills needed for organizations, and individuals in an organizations should possess those skills for the organization to run well. If a person does possess those skills, they are likely in high demand. These skills are so important because of the data in the world, and the ability to use that data is important. Many different industries use data, some uses of it would be decision-making, market analysis, customer segmentation, risk management, and performance measurement. Since data is so important to so many different industries there have been jobs made focusing on data collection. Some of those jobs would be data analysis, data scientist, data engineers, and data intelligence analysts. These jobs focus on using data to improve efficiency, optimize operations, and improve growth within a business.

Chapter 2 of the book talks a little about how data is an important part of businesses running smoothly. Some of the benefits of companies collecting data is having customer insight. Businesses are able to create targeted marketing campaigns based on customer, preferences, demographics, and more. Other benefits include operational, efficiency, predictive analysis, and innovation. Along with these advantages, there are also many responsibilities businesses have when dealing with data. A company must keep data  private and secure to make sure they are behaving ethically.  They must also maintain transparency and have consent when collecting data. Companies must also minimize the data they are collecting by only collecting data that is necessary to their operations. Fairness, a non-discrimination are the last ethical responsibilities listed, meaning organizations should avoid any biased data that could potentially lead to biased decisions. To implement data driven strategies some practices businesses should follow would be developing a clear data strategy, which outlines company objectives, and should align with the organizations overall goals, and objectives. Investing in data infrastructure, and tools is also crucial for collecting, keeping, and analyzing data. Cultivating a data driven culture encourages employees to see data as a resource that is valuable to their decision-making processes. Encouraging collaboration in cross functional teams is also effective when it involves decision-making from the input of multiple places within the organization. Finally, monitoring and evaluating performance is also important to ensure success that continues.

I also made sure to complete the hands-on exercises by searching for a job on LinkedIn, and also by visualizing data in google sheets, and getting more familiar with that program. I also took a look at the YouTube channels listed at the end of chapter 1.

I also watched the "Introduction To Artificial Intelligence" and the "What is Generative AI" youtube videos to gain a little more knowledge on the topic. Both videos were very informative, and were able to explain the applications, advantages, and features of AI well.
